CONNECTIONS

I love it when strange connections happen...
for example:
My friend Cube's blog topic yesterday was about the killing off of Spiderman
and his replacement in an off shoot comic book universe.

I left my comment and went about my day.
Along comes the 5:00 local news.
Looky up there in the pic...
That's Spiderman!

A group of college students dressed a dummy up in Spidey gear
and attached him to the Alsea Bay Bridge in Waldport...
where he freaked out drivers.
Many stopped to gawk and take photos
(who would do such a thing?)
hee hee
Others called the police afraid that whoever was in the
Spidey suit would suffer web-fail and fall to a grisly end.
Oh my!

The dummy remained secure.
However, the students have been told by police that
Spidey must come down.
He's a traffic hazard.
Sigh.
I kind of liked him up there...
keeping us safe from Goblins and the like.
=:)

No, I did not take the pic.
That's the property of KEZI News.

The world is a fun and interesting place.

  1. I wasn't even paying attention at first to what the person was wearing on that bridge, or if he/she was real. All I can think was - watch that first step, it's a doozy!

Even though they had to take down the dummy, that was a creative thing they did!

  2. Tara- Ha! I'm guessing that's what a lot of motorists thought too. It was very creative and I think fun as well.

  3. Small world, eh? My question is how in the world did they get Spidey up there. Good gravy that looks high.

  4. Cube- Small it is! I love it when weird things connect like that.

That's a darned good question. I could never do that. I don't like crossing bridges let alone scaling them. =;]

  5. I love it when concinnity happens too.

I feel the same way about bridges. The one and only time I went to the Florida Keys, I spent half the time cowering on the car floor mat because I'd had enough bridge. Imagine 7 miles of skinny bridge with no land in sight ... ugh.

It was almost as bad as going up 6,288 feet up Mount Washington in New Hampshire with Mr. Cube playing "Ooops" with the steering wheel. Words were uttered by me that day and they were not nice words.

I'm not one of those people that like to live on the edge. I hate the edge. If I were an old person and needed one of those scooters, you can bet good money that I wouldn't be near the edge of the Grand Canyon.

  6. Cube- Ha! Randy has been over that bridge and swears he will never cross it again!

Yeah... I am not a thrill seeker. I get anxious merely driving in normal traffic. Its a wonder I made all those trips down here. Had to be love.

  7. Love is a motivator, all right, but I don't love anybody in the Keys.
