(Gut let out...)

A couple of weeks ago, my oldest, came down to help the man
pour a slab for a wood shed.

Gut sucked in.)
Hee hee.

Perhaps concrete mix gazing is part of the process.

It made for a good weekend.
I got to play with Joshie and Olivia...
and talk with Stacy.
Fun stuffs!

But that was not the only reason that I put these photos there.
I liked the "gut out" and "gut in" aspect.
It tickled me because the man refers to his beer belly
as his "shed".
"Shed?" I said.
"Yeah, for my tool."
I'm sure you've heard that reference before now.

Remember when I talked about how I was recommitting to my
getting into good health, exercise, etc.?
I said that I don't like to join groups for that.

It seems that I lied.
But this group is different.
Their goal is health... not diet.
Diet and exercise as well as mental wellness.
I don't have to do any rah-rah stuff.
I can participate in private.
Or be social... which I am not.

Maybe you have heard of them.

Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople

They are committed to healthy living.

You don't have to need a diet to use them.

They don't cost a dime... they can tell you about that.

What they do have is all sorts of information on nutrition,

wellness, exercise and recipes galore.

They will give you free diet plans, menus and weekly shopping lists if you want.

I like that they have a licensed dietitian who specializes in diabetes.

But the best part are the "tools".

Nutrition, exercise and wellness trackers.

They have cooking videos, exercise videos and articles of interest.

They have yoga and meditation videos.

Calculators help you see how many calories, etc.

You can also punch in a recipe and have the calculator figure out

all that information on meals for you.

Learn about Granny's famous chicken casserole.

So I can track everything about what I eat...

calories, fats, carbs, sodium, minerals.

I get a daily report on my eating habits that help me fix gaps

in my nutrition.

Very cool!

Ditto for my exercise.

I have an exercise plan that I do and the tracker records my progress.

I can even rate my mood levels and keep track of them.

They give helpful suggestions on what you can do to alter your moods.

Exercise suggestions are very do-able for any level.

And its all very upbeat.

I'm pretty excited about it.

I'd never heard of it until C4C told me about it.

Now, after a week... I'm hooked!

There are lots of diet styles too... or don't diet.

Customize the tools to do what you want or need.

So this post was about sheds...

weather it's the kind that shades your tool...

or the kind that you keep your tools in.

Hee hee.

(In this case the man will keep his wood in there.)

I walk at 2.5 MPH and burn 186 calories in 30 minutes.

I also now have begun weights to build upper arm strength.

I'm feeling very empowered!

Oh and I've lost another 4 pounds.

  1. Yay for you! Sounds like an interesting site - I'm off to check it out.

  2. Secret Agent Woman- Thank you. I am enjoying the site very much. Not into the earning 'spark points" but I am very into learning.

  3. I just signed up and am doing the fitness part of it. All I have for today is a 2 mile run, but maybe this will help keep me on track.

  4. Secret Agent Woman- That is so awesome! I know you've already got your nutrition down. I've gotten some great recipes from you. I'm glad you found a use for it.

  5. hahaha, i never heard the "shed" joke before. cute.

that's exciting about your website find. i am so glad you found something to help you through the process in such a positive and non-rah-rah way. it sounds pretty comprehensive. yay you!

  6. Another friend told me about SparkPeople, but I didn't check it out. This time, though, thanks to your description of it, I'll give it a try! I need to set up my page, too.

  7. I think it's wonderful that there is a free site for all you need. I've always found it somewhat appalling that the diet "industry" is so huge. Nice to know some folks are willing to just help their fellow humans!

  8. if i had a cement mixer there'd be no stopping me!

  9. lime- He also calls it a "dicky-doo". Because it sticks out more than a dicky do. I groan at that one.

It is a wonderful site for me. I am finding so much there that is helpful.

Tara- I am having a lot of fun there. I'm one of several silly rabbits there, so I'm sillyrabbit6. You can even blog there. I have not blogged, though I have commented some. Just not my own blog. I don't know how to do the "friend feed". When I figure it out, maybe I'll see you there. =:]

Suldog- I agree that the diet industry is out of control. But then we have ourselves to blame for that too. So many people would rather eat food out of a frozen box than eat actually good for you fresh foods. Kind of like people who never walk or take a bus or El. We are froth with lazy attitudes and spoiled by quickie satisfactions.

billy pilgrim- We looked at one to buy this time, but they wanted $460. for it and that was about $445. over what we were willing to spend. So we rented that one for $15 for the day. Not a bad price for saving your back and getting things done in one pour.

  10. Hey, it is very cool that you found something that works for you!
LOL'd at the whole shed thing...and the photo of your son pre and post gut-suck :)
