THIS AND THAT

Someone sent me this in an email.
I don't know where it comes from...
but the bird looks like one I had for 13 years
named Zitty...
and my dad's name is George.
Ha!

The holidays are progressing nicely.
Last night the man spent a great deal of time
wrapping a gift for one of our grand babies on the way.
He's one of those people who get great fun out of
wrapping things in a way that suggests
other things are inside
and watching the people shake or feel them
and try to guess what it might be.

He also wrapped a toy wooden train he made
for another grand child.
No tricks with that one's wrapping.
He's only 3.
=:]

I am very impressed that the man
and X are working together on a surprise.
I'm very curious !
Good will between the men I've had in my life.
Nice!

Meanwhile...
I'm trying to figure out what to get the man.
It has to be special and inexpensive.
Kind of makes it difficult to choose.
No man-kinni!

Do you have any suggestions?

Are you one of those people who love to wrap things
like that
and watch people guess?

What unexpected, but special
gift did someone give you that meant a lot?

  1. Sorry no suggestions here. I am in toddler buying mode so the only suggestions I have involve dragons and trains. I did watch a very cool documentary recently called "Buck" and I am about to read the book that inspired the film. His name is Buck Brannaman and he is a very impressive and motivational person. Hope you find that special gift. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  2. What sports does he like? Any teams whose tickets can be had for relatively few bucks? It's always a good treat to go to a game!

  3. Sports stuff isn't cheap, but sometimes you can find a bargain.

  6. Mr. Shife- Enjoy the toddler gift buying while it lasts. The older they grow, the more expensive the gifts become.
I will look up "Buck". You have made me curious.

  7. Suldog- He's a Duck fan in college football. A Raider's fan in NFL. But not a baseball person!!!!
(I still have trouble wrapping my brain around that.) Not into NBA much. Then back to Duck Basketball.

Maybe I should go to The Duck Store and see what I can find then.

  8. Cube- That certainly is true of the Ducks! The not cheap part. Though they do sell "spirit" tee shirts for only $7. For that price I could be nice twice!

  9. Cube- Ha! I knew you would. I can't post a cat without thinking of how much you will like it.

  10. billy pilgrim- Ha! He has, or I should say, had two pair... but they live on my feet these days.
Old women get cold easily too. =;]

I must say, I do spend a lot of time avoiding his feet in bed. They are like ice! A left over from his service days and a mild touch of frost bite.

Maybe I should get him a pair or two that I don't steal.

  11. I'm working on a stocking for the guy I've been seeing. Mostly just fun, silly stiff. And chocolates.

  12. secret agent woman- I have been thinking along that same line. The man has a passion for chocolate.

I used to do something similar for my father... who liked smoked clams and oysters, cheeses, summer sausage and the like.

  13. I am not an intuitive gift giver, so I wish you luck :) I think you will probably come up with something perfect.
